A 37-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle in a Sorrento Valley neighborhood, San Diego County, on Monday night, May 18, 2026.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. at a communal driveway in the 10198 block of Wateridge Circle.
Authorities stated that a 40-year-old man driving a 2025 Jeep Wrangler had stopped in the driveway and opened his garage door while passengers exited the vehicle. One of the passengers, a woman, exited the right-rear door and walked toward the front right of the Jeep. As the driver began making a left turn into the garage, the vehicle struck the woman.
The victim suffered fatal internal injuries and was pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released.
Officials stated that driving under the influence was not considered a factor in the incident. Fault has not yet been determined.
The investigation remains ongoing.
