A big rig crash caused traffic delays and knocked down utility lines in the Chinese Camp area of Tuolumne County on Thursday morning, May 21, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. off J-59 near the intersection of Red Hill Road.
Authorities stated that the crash involved a big rig truck and caused utility lines to fall along the west side of the roadway. Officials have not confirmed what type of lines were affected, though PG&E was notified. It is also unknown how many vehicles were involved in the collision.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, and an ambulance was requested. CHP later reported that minor injuries were sustained in the crash, although additional details about those injured were not released.
Officers directed one-way traffic in the area for several hours while crews worked at the scene. The roadway was later cleared, and no power outages were reported in the area.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
