Three people were hospitalized following a single-vehicle collision near Rancho Murieta, Sacramento County, on Wednesday night, May 22, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 8:30 p.m. along Scott Road, north of Latrobe Road.
CHP said that a Toyota Camry, occupied by a male driver and two female passengers, was going north on Scott Road at an unsafe speed before it ultimately veered off the roadway and crashed into a nearby tree.
One of the female passengers reportedly suffered major injuries as a result of the incident and was airlifted to a hospital for further medical care. She was sitting in the backseat of the car and was apparently not wearing her seatbelt.
Meanwhile, the other female passenger and the male driver both sustained moderate injuries. The two were also taken to a local hospital to recover. The names of the people involved were not available at this time.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. It is unclear if driver impairment was a factor.
