Two people were seriously injured following a head-on collision in Oroville on Saturday afternoon, May 23, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 2:56 p.m. on State Route 162 near Wally B Lane.
Authorities reported that a Dodge pickup truck and a Toyota SUV, both with major front-end damage, were involved.
The male driver of the Dodge, the sole occupant, sustained moderate to major injuries and was transported to a hospital. The female driver of the Toyota became trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency personnel, who removed the doors and steering wheel to safely free her. She was airlifted to a local hospital with major injuries and reported to be in stable condition.
CHP’s preliminary investigation indicates that the Dodge pickup was traveling westbound when it crossed into the opposing lane of traffic. Both drivers attempted to steer to avoid a collision, but the vehicles crossed paths, resulting in a head-on crash.
Emergency personnel from CAL FIRE/Butte County, Butte County EMS, Lake Oroville State Recreational Area, and the Butte County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
The CHP continues to investigate the incident.
What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
