[05-23-2026] Orange County, CA – Man Killed in E-Bike Crash Near Chestnut and Cypress Ave. in Santa Ana

A 51-year-old man was killed after being struck while riding an e-bike in Santa Ana on Saturday evening, May 23, 2026.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the collision occurred around 9:35 p.m. near the intersection of Chestnut and Cypress Avenues. 

Officers found the victim, later identified as Rey F. of Santa Ana, lying in the roadway with significant injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Tuesday, May 26.

Authorities stated that preliminary investigations indicate the victim was riding westbound on Chestnut Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Cypress Avenue. 

The driver remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators, and did not appear to be impaired. Detectives are still determining whether the rider was impaired at the time of the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.
