A rider was killed following a motorcycle vs. vehicle crash in Half Moon Bay on Saturday evening, May 25, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 5:47 p.m. on SR 1 at Mirada Road.
Authorities stated that the rider, identified as 28-year-old Joaquin Dominik Jimenez A., was riding on his motorcycle when he was struck by a pink pickup truck. Despite the life-saving measures from emergency services, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Responding officials said that the victim was the son of Half Moon Bay Mayor Joaquin J.
Police said that the pickup truck driver remained at the scene to cooperate with the authorities. At this time, it is unknown what caused the collision.
The CHP issued a SigAlert at the location of the crash. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes while the police investigate the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact the authorities and assist with the investigation.
