At least one person was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Chualar, Monterey County, on Thursday morning, May 28, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of County Road 17 and River Road.
Emergency crews, including CHP, fire personnel, and AMR, responded to the scene. River Road was temporarily closed in both directions from Parker Road to Odonata Winery for several hours while crews worked to manage the incident. The roadway has since reopened.
It is currently unclear how many people were involved in the crash or whether there were additional injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
