[05-29-2024] 16-Year-Old Male Passenger Killed Following Single-Vehicle Collision in Chula VistaA 16-year-old male passenger was killed following a single-vehicle collision in Chula Vista on Wednesday morning, May 29, 2024. 

According to the Chula Vista Police Department, the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Hunte Parkway and Exploration Falls Drive. 

Authorities stated that a juvenile driver and a 16-year-old boy in a Ford pickup truck were traveling westbound when the vehicle exited the roadway and crashed into a tree and a fire hydrant. 

Upon the arrival of the officers, the boy was already pulled out of the truck by the driver and was unconscious following the crash. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he later died. 

Police said that the two occupants of the truck were cousins. Their identities were not disclosed due to their ages. The juvenile driver and family are cooperating with the investigations. 

No further information was released. Investigations are ongoing.
