[05-29-2026] Fresno County, CA – Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash Near Belmont and Chestnut Ave.

A woman was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in East Central Fresno on Friday night, May 29, 2026.

According to Fresno Police, the incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. near Belmont and Chestnut avenues. 

Officers arriving at the scene found the woman lying in the street, unconscious and not breathing, with severe injuries to her head and torso.

Emergency personnel performed CPR at the scene before transporting the victim to Community Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. The woman’s identity has not been released.

Authorities stated that the driver involved fled the scene, and Fresno Police are actively searching for the suspect.

The incident remains under investigation.
