One person was killed in a collision involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck on Highway 101 in Monterey County on Friday afternoon, May 30, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:07 p.m. as both vehicles were approaching Hartnell Road—one heading south in a semi-truck and the other traveling north in a pickup truck.
The semi-truck reportedly made a left turn, and the pickup truck, in an attempt to avoid a collision, crashed head-on into the trailer of the semi-truck, becoming lodged underneath it.
Authorities confirmed that one individual died at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
The incident remains under investigation, and it is currently unknown if DUI played a role in the crash.
