[05-31-2024] 12-Year-Old Boy Killed, Another Person Injured After Two-Vehicle Crash Involving ATV Along Road 140A 12-year-old boy was killed, while another person was injured after a two-vehicle crash involving an ATV in Tulare County on Friday evening, May 31, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened just before 7:00 p.m. around the intersection of Road 140 and Avenue 432, northeast of Orosi.

CHP officers said that the boy was on an ATV driving along Road 140 when he failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the front end of a GMC SUV heading eastbound on Avenue 432. The SUV reportedly had the right of way at the time of the incident.

Medical responders tried to save the juvenile driver’s life, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Officers confirmed that he was wearing a helmet when the collision occurred.

The driver of the SUV, a 61-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. She remained on the crash site and cooperated with the authorities.

The boy’s school, El Monte Middle School, released a statement sending condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased 6th grader.

No further details were immediately available. The investigation is underway.
