[06-02-2024] Two Women Injured After DUI Hit-And-Run Crash at Walnut Creek Farmers MarketTwo women were injured after a DUI hit-and-run crash in Walnut Creek on early Sunday morning, June 2, 2024.                                 

According to the Walnut Police Department, the crash happened around 5:17 a.m. on Locust Street, along the Walnut Creek Farmer’s Market. 

Authorities stated that the 33-year-old Jose C. from Vallejo was driving his black Ford Explorer SUV and plowed his vehicle through the Walnut Creek Farmers Market. Two women were injured in the crash, and one of them sustained critical injuries. Details on the identities of the women were not immediately available. 

The suspect fled the scene, but the officers located his damaged vehicle entering Interstate 680 at Lawrence Way. Police pulled his vehicle over near the Pleasant Hill BART station and arrested Jose C. 

Officials said that the driver was charged with driving under the influence, causing injury, and hit-and-run causing injury. Jose C. did not have a valid license due to a previous DUI conviction.

No further information was released. Investigations are ongoing.
