A 22-year-old man from Temecula was killed following a fiery multi-vehicle collision on the southbound Interstate 215 in Murrieta early Thursday morning, June 5, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 3:30 a.m. just north of the Clinton Keith Road off-ramp.
The victim was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu in the fast lane when he reportedly lost control, struck the center divider, and stalled in the No. 1 lane. While his passenger exited to the divider, the driver remained in the vehicle and called for help.
A Ford F-350 transit van, driven by a 61-year-old man from Moreno Valley, was unable to stop in time and crashed into the rear of the Malibu. The impact caused the Malibu to catch fire, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The van driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center. The Malibu’s passenger was unharmed.
The CHP’s Temecula office is handling the case.
