A 27-year-old man was killed in a collision involving two commercial tractor-trailers on State Route 86 near Brawley early Tuesday morning, June 9, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:00 a.m. in the southbound lanes of SR-86 just south of SR-78.
Authorities reported that a 2020 Peterbilt semi-truck towing two flatbed trailers slammed into the back of a 2016 Kenworth truck towing a chassis container, both traveling in the slow lane.
The Kenworth and its trailer came to a stop in the lane, while the Peterbilt’s cab and first trailer remained upright, but the second flatbed trailer overturned onto its left side.
The driver of the Peterbilt sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities believe he was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Kenworth was uninjured.
The Imperial County Coroner’s Office responded to take possession of the deceased, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
