Minor injuries were reported following a fiery two-vehicle crash involving a big rig and a Jeep on Highway 86 in Imperial County early Wednesday morning, June 11, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at approximately 5:19 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 86, just south of the Border Patrol Checkpoint.
When officers arrived at the scene, both vehicles were on fire. CHP officials said the big rig had overturned under power lines, and a light pole was also damaged.
Emergency crews remained on scene as of 8:30 a.m. to clean up debris from the collision.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
