[06-12-2026] San Luis Obispo County, CA – Multi-Vehicle Crash Causes Traffic Backup on Highway 101 Near Madonna Rd.

A multi-vehicle crash caused significant traffic delays on northbound Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo on Friday afternoon, June 12, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident began around 1:30 p.m. near the Madonna Road off-ramp when two vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision. The initial crash led to a chain reaction involving three additional vehicles.

By 1:33 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the scene, and an ambulance was requested. Authorities did not immediately report any injuries.

Traffic congestion continued to build through the afternoon, backing up past the Los Osos Valley Road off-ramp before conditions began to clear.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
