[06-18-2026] Fresno County, CA – One Killed, Another Injured in Crash on I-5 North of Gale Ave.

A 67-year-old man died following a crash on Interstate 5 in Fresno County on Thursday afternoon, June 18, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported just before 3 p.m. on Interstate 5 north of Gale Avenue.

Authorities stated that a 2006 gold Mercedes was traveling northbound when it swerved into the dirt median. The vehicle rotated, crossed to the opposite side of the interstate, overturned after striking a guardrail, and came to rest down an embankment on its side.

Officials reported that two people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. A passerby helped remove both occupants before emergency crews arrived.

The driver was administered CPR but was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was transported to Community Regional Medical Center with severe injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
