A 20-year-old male rider was seriously injured following a motorcycle vs. vehicle collision in San Diego on Wednesday morning, June 19, 2024.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. at the 2800 block of Main Street in the Barrio Logan neighborhood.
SDPD said that the 20-year-old man was riding a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle going west on Main Street when an eastbound 2022 Toyota C-HR suddenly turned left in front of him, resulting in a broadside crash.
It was later confirmed that the motorcyclist suffered a broken leg as a result of the accident. He was taken to a local hospital via ground ambulance for further medical care.
The Toyota driver, a 47-year-old man, did not appear to be injured. It is still unclear why he made a left turn directly in front of the rider.
The authorities are still gathering all the necessary information to pinpoint the official cause of the accident. At this time, alcohol intoxication is not seen as a possible factor.
