According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the pedestrian vs. vehicle incident happened around 9:51 p.m. at the 200 block of South Brown Street.

Initial investigations suggested that a female driver of an unspecified vehicle was traveling northbound when she struck the man in the roadway. It is not immediately known what the pedestrian was doing along the roadway at the time of the crash.

The victim reportedly suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police described the victim’s current status as being in critical condition.

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the police. No word yet on whether she was also injured in the accident.
