A woman was killed after being struck by a pickup truck on Brundage Lane in east Bakersfield on Sunday night, June 21, 2026.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded around 9:15 p.m. to the 600 block of Brundage Lane and found the pedestrian with major injuries. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the pedestrian entered the roadway within an unmarked crosswalk while an adult male was driving the pickup.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police stated that driver impairment and excessive speed do not appear to have been factors.
The investigation is ongoing.
