A 70-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Holtville on Monday, June 23, 2025.
According to the Holtville Fire Department, the incident occurred at the intersection of 5th Street and Walnut Avenue. The man was attempting to cross the street when he was hit by a vehicle that had the right of way.
The driver remained at the scene and assisted the injured man until emergency crews arrived. Holtville Fire Chief Alex Silva stated that the driver was in shock but cooperated fully with first responders.
The pedestrian suffered major injuries to the right side of his body, including facial injuries and broken bones. He was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery.
The incident remains under investigation.
