A bicyclist was injured in a hit-and-run crash in Cathedral City on Sunday afternoon, June 29, 2025.
According to Cathedral City police, the collision occurred shortly after 2:40 p.m. on Date Palm Drive, north of Perez Road.
The victim, described as a man from Cathedral City, was riding in the northbound bike lane when he was struck from behind by a vehicle.
After initially stopping, the driver fled the scene on foot. The victim was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with multiple injuries and was reported to be in stable condition. The severity of his injuries was not immediately disclosed.
Officers located the suspect, 22-year-old Miguel R. Vallejo of Desert Hot Springs, walking on a sidewalk approximately one mile from the crash site about 10 minutes later. He was arrested and booked into the Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in injury. His bail was set at $25,000.
The investigation is ongoing.
