[07-01-2026] San Bernardino County, CA – Motorcyclist Killed in Crash With Tractor-Trailer on I-15 in Barstow

A 65-year-old Phelan man was killed after a motorcycle crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 15 in Barstow on Wednesday evening, July 1, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. on southbound Interstate 15, south of Barstow Road.

Authorities said the man was riding a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle in the No. 3 lane near a tractor-trailer combination vehicle. Investigators reported that the rider attempted to change lanes into the No. 2 lane, which was occupied by another vehicle, before making a steering movement that caused the motorcycle to strike the left rear portion of the tractor-trailer.

The impact ejected the motorcyclist from the motorcycle. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

CHP said alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
