[07-02-2024] Calaveras County, CA – One Person Killed After Motorcycle Vs. Vehicle Crash in Copperopolis

One person was killed after a motorcycle vs. vehicle crash in Copperopolis, Calaveras County, on Tuesday morning, July 2, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 9:42 a.m. at O’byrnes Ferry Road and Black Creek Drive. 

Authorities stated that a Ford F250 hauling a 27-foot camper crashed into a motorcycle. Details on how the collision occurred were not yet disclosed, but CHP confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown if the deceased was the rider or an occupant of the Ford. 

As of this writing, no other injuries were reported. The cause of the crash remains unclear, and the police are investigating whether drugs, alcohol, or speeding played a role. 

Both directions of the roadway were closed. Motorists are advised to find an alternative route, as there is no indication of when the roadway might open.
