A construction worker was hospitalized after becoming trapped in a trench at a worksite in Irvine on Thursday afternoon, July 3, 2025.
According to the Orange County Fire Authority, firefighters were dispatched around 1:40 p.m. to the 6500 block of Roosevelt, where the worker had become stuck approximately six feet down in an unshored trench.
Rescue efforts continued for more than two hours before the worker was safely removed and transported to a hospital around 4:00 p.m.
Authorities reported that the worker is expected to survive. The incident remains under review.
