According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the crash occurred at about 2:00 p.m. at Haven Avenue and the 210 Freeway intersection.

It all started when the authorities received a call about a carjacking at the intersection of 4th Street and Grove Avenue in Ontario at around 1:35 p.m. Minutes later; they found the suspect and the stolen car at Haven Avenue and Civic Center Drive in Rancho Cucamonga. Authorities tried to pull over the driver for questioning, but he drove off instead, prompting a police chase.

The carjacking suspect led the police to a four-mile pursuit through the city. The chase ended when the suspect ran a red light and crashed into an innocent motorist on Haven Avenue and the 210 Freeway. After that, the suspect reportedly ran from the stolen car and tried carjacking another but was arrested by the deputies before successfully doing so.

Medical personnel were called to the scene to assist the driver of the vehicle struck by the suspect. The driver, whose name, age, and gender weren’t disclosed, was treated on scene after sustaining minor injuries.

The carjacking suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Anthony I. from Jurupa Valley, was arrested and subsequently booked at West Valley Detention Center on several felony charges, including attempted carjacking and hit-and-run. His bail is currently set at $100,000.

No further information was immediately available. Police work is underway.
