[07-06-2024] Alameda County, CA – Rider Killed Following Motorcycle Vs. Vehicle Collision on I-580

A rider was killed following a motorcycle vs. vehicle collision in Oakland on Saturday morning, July 6, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 3:20 a.m. on eastbound I-580, Fruitvale Avenue exit. 

Authorities stated that a motorcyclist, whose name, age, and place of origin were not disclosed, was traveling along the freeway when, for some reason, the motorcycle was hit by unknown vehicles. The total number of vehicles that struck the victim was unclear, but the CHP confirmed that at least one was involved.

Upon arrival, the police found the body of the rider in the fourth lane and the motorcycle in the third lane. The victim sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Details on how the collision occurred, as well as the make and model of the vehicles involved, were not immediately known. Speeding, drugs, or alcohol are being investigated as possible factors in the crash. 

No additional details have been provided as of yet.

Investigators are asking witnesses to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
