[07-08-2025] Pedestrian Killed in Crash at Claremont Avenue and The Uplands in BerkeleyA man in his 50s died after being struck by a vehicle in Berkeley on Tuesday night, July 8, 2025.

According to authorities, the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Claremont Avenue and The Uplands. 

Emergency responders found the pedestrian unresponsive and bleeding from the head. The Berkeley Fire Department transported the victim to Highland Hospital with a trauma activation. He was later pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the involved vehicle, a Hyundai, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police closed Claremont Avenue between Woolsey Street and Prince Street during the investigation.

The Berkeley Police Department’s Fatal Accident Investigation Team responded, and 3D scans of the scene were conducted. A crime scene cleanup crew and a tow truck were also dispatched.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
