A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Panorama Drive in Bakersfield on Thursday night, July 9, 2026.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded to the incident at around 9:18 p.m. at the 1100 block of Panorama Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a person lying in the roadway with severe injuries, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate that the pedestrian was in the roadway and not in a crosswalk. Intoxication was not considered a factor, though authorities continue to investigate whether speed may have contributed to the crash.
Police reported that the driver, a woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
