[07-09-2026] San Diego County, CA – Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Struck by SUV on Otay Mesa Rd.

A 53-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being struck by an SUV in Otay Mesa, San Diego County, on Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2026.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 12:50 p.m. in the 6300 block of Otay Mesa Road. 

Authorities said a 60-year-old man was driving a westbound Kia Sportage when the pedestrian entered the roadway from the north, attempting to cross to the south, and was struck in the eastbound right lane.

The pedestrian sustained multiple pelvic fractures and was transported to a local hospital. Police reported that his injuries are not considered life-threatening. 

Alcohol was not a factor in the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
