A woman was taken to the hospital after a crash involving an American Ambulance unit in Fresno on Monday evening, July 14, 2025.
According to the Fresno Police Department, the collision occurred just after 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of Blackstone and Shields avenues.
Preliminary reports indicated that the ambulance was traveling westbound on Shields Avenue while responding to an emergency call when it collided with a vehicle turning eastbound onto Shields from Blackstone. Two women were inside the turning vehicle.
One of the women had to be extricated and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center. Police stated that her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
The EMS crew was not transporting a patient at the time of the crash, and no injuries were reported among the ambulance personnel.
The incident remains under investigation.
