[07-15-2026] Mendocino County, CA – Car Drives Off Cliff on Highway 1 Near Van Damme State Park, Three People Involved

Three men reportedly walked away after their car drove off a cliff on Highway 1 near Van Damme State Park in Mendocino County on Wednesday night, July 15, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 9:40 p.m. The 2005 Mercedes drove off the roadway, fell approximately 150 feet, and landed on the beach near the water.

Authorities reported that the driver was allegedly speeding and crossed the double yellow lines before the crash. Emergency responders, Cal Fire, and State Parks personnel responded to the scene.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
