A 73-year-old bicyclist was injured after crashing into a vehicle in the Point Loma Heights neighborhood of San Diego on Thursday afternoon, July 17, 2025.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:47 p.m. in the 4500 block of Voltaire Street.
Authorities said a 67-year-old man had stopped his vehicle in the roadway before backing into the driveway of his residence when the collision occurred.
The bicyclist, who was riding eastbound in the bicycle lane, reportedly failed to slow down and struck the side of the vehicle. He sustained an open tibia and fibula fracture and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The SDPD Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
