A hit-and-run crash involving two vehicles occurred on Highway 183 in Monterey County on Friday night, July 17, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s Monterey office, the crash occurred east of Espinosa Road, blocking both lanes as emergency crews responded.
Authorities reported that the suspect fled on foot and had not been located as of Friday night. Drivers were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes, with CHP recommending Espinosa Road as a detour.
