A 40-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle while standing in the roadway on State Route 67 in Ramona, San Diego County, shortly before midnight on Friday, July 18, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was within the northbound lane of SR-67, north of Archie Moore Road, when the crash occurred.
At the same time, a 44-year-old woman from Irvine was driving a 2018 Dodge Challenger through the area.
CHP stated that for reasons still under investigation, the pedestrian was standing in a poorly lit section of the roadway when he was struck by the vehicle.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was not injured. Authorities said it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
