[07-19-2026] Kern County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Multiple Vehicles South of White Lane

A man was killed after being struck by several vehicles in Bakersfield early Sunday morning, July 19, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the incident at around 1:48 a.m. on southbound Highway 99 south of White Lane.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the unidentified man entered the southbound lanes from the shoulder and was struck by an unknown vehicle, then subsequently hit by multiple additional vehicles.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Multiple drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. CHP reported that other vehicles involved may have fled the scene.

It is currently unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
