[07-20-2025] Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Crash with Minivan at Union Avenue and 34th Street in BakersfieldA motorcyclist sustained critical injuries in a collision with a minivan in Bakersfield on Sunday night, July 20, 2025.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 10:32 p.m. at the intersection of Union Avenue and 34th Street, near Memorial Hospital. 

Responding officers found a male motorcyclist with severe injuries at the scene. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he remained in critical condition as of midnight Monday.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a gray Honda minivan was making a left turn from northbound Union Avenue to westbound 34th Street when it collided broadside with the southbound motorcycle.

Police said the driver of the minivan, a woman, stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
