A 68-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle while walking in the roadway in South Sacramento early Wednesday morning, July 22, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded around 12:45 a.m. to the 6600 block of Prentiss Drive following reports of a pedestrian with serious injuries.
Authorities said the woman was walking in the roadway when she was struck by a vehicle. Despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been released.
The driver involved fled. CHP investigators believe the suspect vehicle may be a white four-door sedan, possibly a 2013–2016 Nissan Altima with front-end damage.
The investigation remains ongoing.
