[07-22-2026] San Diego County, CA – One Killed, Three Injured in Nine-Vehicle Crash in Pacific Beach

A 32-year-old man was killed, and three others were injured after a nine-vehicle crash in Pacific Beach, San Diego County, on Wednesday evening, July 22, 2026.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision occurred around 7:59 p.m. near 2800 Garnet Avenue at the intersection of Mission Bay Drive.

Authorities said a 59-year-old man driving a Porsche Cayman at a high rate of speed collided with the rear of a Kia stopped at a westbound red light. The impact caused a chain-reaction crash involving nine vehicles.

The Kia driver was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Three occupants from other vehicles involved in the collision were treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

Police arrested the Porsche driver at the scene on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter. Investigators reported that alcohol was not considered a factor in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
