[07-26-2024] El Dorado County, CA – At Least Four People Injured Following Two-Vehicle Head-On Collision Near South Lake Tahoe

At least four people were injured following a two-vehicle head-on collision in El Dorado County on Friday afternoon, July 26, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 1:00 p.m. along Pioneer Trail near South Lake Tahoe and Tionontati Street. 

Authorities stated that a 2022 Prius was traveling at an unknown rate of speed when, for some reason, it crossed into the southbound lane, colliding head-on with a 2022 GMC Sierra moving at around 40 mph. 

Four people suffered minor to major injuries; two for each vehicle involved. This includes the driver of the Prius, identified as a 35-year-old San Francisco resident, who suffered a broken femur following the crash. Additionally, others complained of pain and sustained lacerations.

All four were transported to Barton Hospital. None of the victims were named by the responding officers. 

No additional details were available. The crash is under investigation.
