One person was injured in a collision involving two semi-trucks in Coachella early Thursday morning, July 30, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at Airport Boulevard and Highway 86.
One of the big rigs overturned, scattering debris across the freeway and prompting the roadway’s closure.
CHP diverted traffic off Highway 86 at Airport Boulevard and directed motorists to use State Route 111 while Caltrans and tow crews worked to clear the scene. One person was transported to a hospital with back and neck injuries.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding the injured person or the circumstances leading up to the collision.
The investigation remains ongoing.
