[08-03-2025] Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle on Payne Avenue in San JoseA pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in San Jose on Sunday night, August 3, 2025.

According to the San Jose Police Department, the incident occurred just before 11:00 p.m. near the intersection of Payne Avenue and Winchester Boulevard. 

Investigators determined that a black 2018 Chevy truck was traveling westbound on Payne Avenue when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing the street.

The truck was occupied by an adult male driver and an adult male passenger. Both remained at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities have not yet released his identity, pending confirmation and notification of next of kin by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.

Officials noted the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash, though California law permits crossing at intersections with or without marked crosswalks.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
