A 67-year-old woman was killed after being struck by an SUV near Vacaville on Monday night, August 3, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Pleasant Valley Road near Sunny Hills Lane, west of Vacaville.
Investigators said the woman had pulled onto the right shoulder, activated her hazard lights, exited her vehicle, and crossed to the west side of the roadway. For reasons still under investigation, she was in the southbound lane when she was struck by a southbound Mitsubishi Outlander driven by a 42-year-old man.
The driver stopped immediately, called 911, and remained at the scene. Cal Fire crews responding to a separate incident nearby began CPR until additional emergency personnel arrived, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities said the Mitsubishi driver cooperated with investigators and showed no signs of impairment.
The investigation remains ongoing.
