[08-04-2024] Placer County, CA – Cyclist Injured After Bicycle Vs. Vehicle Hit-And-Run Collision Near Thunder Valley Casino

A cyclist was injured after a bicycle vs. vehicle hit-and-run collision in Placer County early Sunday morning, August 4, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 4:15 a.m. near Thunder Valley Casino. 

Authorities stated that two cyclists were on the shoulder of northbound Industrial Avenue when a mid-2010s Nissan Versa drifted onto the shoulder and hit one of the bicyclists. The injured bicyclist, whose name and age were not disclosed, was transported to an area hospital for treatment. 

Meanwhile, the Nissan driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim. The suspect vehicle sustained damage to its right front fender and bumper. 

On Monday afternoon, the vehicle was located, and the suspect was identified as 28-year-old Cory Brown of Fairfield. Cory B. was arrested for hit-and-run charges.

No further details were released. The investigation is ongoing.
