[08-04-2024] Sacramento County, CA – At Least Three People, Including Children, Injured Following Single-Vehicle Collision in Rancho Cordova

At least three people, including children, were injured following a single-vehicle collision in Rancho Cordova on Sunday evening, August 4, 2024.

According to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. along Highway 50, east of Watt Avenue.

Investigators stated that a Toyota Sequoia veered off the right-hand shoulder of the highway, hitting a metal guardrail before falling down a dirt embankment.

Authorities reported that the driver sustained major injuries, while two minor passengers suffered moderate injuries. All three individuals were transported to a hospital for treatment. Another adult and minor in the car sustained little to no injuries.

None of the occupants of the crashed Toyota have been identified yet, and the patients’ current statuses are also undisclosed.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, and it is unclear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
