California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that possibly sparked a brush fire on the westbound Highway 58 near Bear Mountain Boulevard in Kern County on Monday, August 4, 2025.
According to CHP, the incident occurred just before 5:00 p.m. when a semi-trailer truck and at least one other vehicle collided.
A car went down an embankment and overturned, while the semi-truck also overturned. A pick-up truck may have been involved in the crash as well.
Shortly after the collision, a brush fire ignited on the right-hand side of the highway. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the crash.
As of 11:00 p.m., Caltrans reported no road restrictions in the area, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Authorities continue to look into the incident.
