[08-06-2024] Merced County, CA – Female Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle on Merced Avenue

A female pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Merced County on Tuesday night, August 6, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:04 p.m. on Merced Avenue, north of Boss Road, outside the city of Delhi.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver, a woman from Delhi, was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 pickup truck northbound on Merced Avenue at approximately 35 miles per hour. At the same time, the pedestrian was walking with her shopping cart on the right shoulder of Merced Avenue going in the same direction.

It is said that the pedestrian turned directly into the path of the pickup truck for unknown reasons as it approached her. Due to the short distance, the driver was unable to brake or swerve in time to avoid the collision.

The female pedestrian, who was believed to be from San Jose, died as a result of the collision. Her name and age were not disclosed immediately.

Authorities confirmed that the driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation. It was later determined that the accident did not involve either alcohol or drugs.

The details are still being investigated. No further information is immediately available.

The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
