[08-08-2024] Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Struck by Hit-And-Run Vehicle in EscondidoA pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in Escondido on Thursday night, August 8, 2024.

According to the Escondido Police Department, the incident occurred in the 1100 block of North Fig Street shortly before 9:30 p.m. 

A 911 caller reported that a pedestrian was lying unconscious in the street, and a vehicle was heard speeding away south from the scene. The unidentified pedestrian, who appeared to be around 18 years old, was possibly on a skateboard at the time of the collision.

The victim was transported to a hospital immediately after medical responders arrived. He is listed in critical condition as of Friday, August 9, 2024. Authorities have yet to reveal further details regarding the identity of the victim.

The EPD is actively seeking the hit-and-run driver involved in the incident. No official description of the suspect vehicle or its driver has been released.
