[08-10-2025] Two Dead, One Injured After Crash on Highway 49 in Diamond SpringsTwo people were killed and another was injured following a single-vehicle crash in Diamond Springs, El Dorado County, on Sunday evening, August 10, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. on Highway 49, south of Crystal Boulevard.

CHP initially received the call as a report of pedestrians struck, but later determined that two people were ejected from a vehicle. Officials said the crash involved only one vehicle carrying three occupants.

The driver and the front right passenger, identified as 73-year-old Gerald E. and 72-year-old Sally B., were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The right rear passenger sustained minor injuries and was transported to Marshall Hospital.

Authorities said it is unclear what led to the crash. CHP noted that seat belts are not believed to have been in use. The incident remains under investigation.
