A man was killed after being struck by multiple vehicles on the 24th Street bridge in Bakersfield early Monday morning, August 10, 2026.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded to the incident at around 5:35 a.m. at the 24th Street bridge over the Kern River.
Officers found the man in the westbound lanes of 24th Street. Police said he had been struck by multiple vehicles, several of which left the scene without stopping.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released his identity.
The Bakersfield Police Department continues to investigate the fatal hit-and-run crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police at (661) 327-7111.
